Senior transitions

When a parent needs more care, you don't have to plan alone.

I help families coordinate the move to assisted living and the sale of the family home, with patience, clear communication and respect for your parent's wishes.

How I help families

One plan for the move and the house.

Timing the move

Align the move-in date with the sale of the home so your family is not carrying two costs longer than needed.

Selling the family home

Pricing, light preparation and a sale handled with care, including homes that need work.

Moving and cleanout

Introductions to movers, estate sale and cleanout services, so the home is ready and the move feels manageable.

Working with your advisors

I coordinate with your attorney, the person holding power of attorney, or the executor, and keep siblings informed wherever they live.

A step-by-step plan

What the process looks like.

  1. A first conversation

We talk about your parent's needs, the timeline and who needs to be involved.

  2. Choose the right community

You compare options and choose what fits. The checklist below can help.

  3. Prepare and list the home

A practical plan for repairs, cleanout and presentation.

  4. Close and settle in

I manage the sale details so your family can focus on your parent.

A helpful checklist

Questions to ask any assisted living community.

  • Is the community licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services, and can I review recent inspection reports?
  • What levels of care are offered, and what happens if needs change?
  • How are care plans created and updated, and how often will we hear from staff?
  • What is included in the monthly fee, and which services cost extra?
  • What are staffing levels during the day, at night and on weekends?
  • What are the move-in, notice and refund terms in the residency agreement?

This checklist is general information, not legal, medical or financial advice. Review agreements with your own advisors.

Let's talk about your family's plan.

A no-pressure conversation about timing, the home and next steps.
